Having a separately mounted tripod prompter versus one on-camera means you can disconnect the camera quickly from the prompter – a real benefit for b-roll shots. although, personally, I would feel more comfortable putting closer to 35 lbs. Could you use a different tripod? Sure, but the HD500 is rated at 50 lbs. Plus, it even comes with a basic baseplate for 15mm rods.įirst, my preferred way of mounting both the ProLine Plus and Desktop Flex is atop the Prompter People HD500 tripod (pictured below). Initially, I was drawn to the ProLine Plus because its footprint seems designed with mobile camera builds in mind. The others were less demanding on the on-camera talent, but each still required several paragraphs of critical text. One of the four projects included a whopping 45 pages of text. I used both the ProLine Plus and Desktop Flex on four projects during the pandemic. For most of us, we just want something that works and works well, allowing us to concentrate on the lighting, camera, and audio - which is plenty. If your work is in or around film & TV production, it’s a guarantee that at some point you’re going to need a prompter, and your choices will run the gamut in quality-from absolutely terrible to, yeah, robot-controlled high tech devices. They carry teleprompters from small on-camera entry-level to $10,000+ robot-controlled options. I hadn’t heard of Prompter People prior to being asked to review their equipment, but a quick Google search suggests they are leaders in the market. Suddenly, prompters in all their forms became much more interesting, not to mention vital as crews got smaller and the need for online content grew. Then, the world changed, and like many of you, I found myself in the online streaming space. Here’s my full review.īefore 2020, my experience with prompters was limited. During the pandemic, I’ve had the opportunity to use all three of these systems on several shoots. The manufacturer also sent along a Prompter People branded HD500 tripod and I’ll discuss that product here, too. The ProLine Plus seems aimed primarily at field shooting or small mobile studios, and the Desktop Flex prompter feels like an at-home or studio solution - certainly not meant for the field. Prompter People, maker of all things teleprompter, sent us both the 22.5″ Desktop Flex and the 19″ ProLine Plus for this review. keyboard_arrow_rightCameras of the Year.keyboard_arrow_rightGear Guides by Budget.keyboard_arrow_rightGear Guides by Type. ![]()

There was no discussion during the news conference about streetcar extension into South Omaha, though Noddle said afterward that was always considered a future possibility. Justin Wayne of Omaha even proposed legislation that would have allocated state money for the north line. In the Nebraska Legislature, some lawmakers who have questioned the streetcar’s value to the city as a whole have advocated for an extension into North Omaha and toward the airport. Such an extension, she said, could connect riders to jobs, schools and services and lead to new development and housing along the route. The city would provide a 50% local match through a combination of funding and in-kind support, Stothert said. Department of Transportation to study an extension of the streetcar path to North Omaha and possibly to the airport. Noddle and the mayor said the City of Omaha has applied for a $300,000 federal grant from the U.S. The designers recommended that change, officials said, to allow for options for future extensions into North Omaha. ![]() He said he was optimistic that UNMC officials would want to “take advantage” of the streetcar amenity and that the specific route was what had yet to be ironed out.Īccording to the latest design plan, the northern end of the streetcar route would stop at 10th Street and Capitol Avenue - rather than the original end point a few blocks farther north at 10th and Cass Streets. Noddle pointed to the heavy construction and building projects ongoing around the medical center and said that more evaluation was warranted before determining how the streetcar fits in. Stothert said that UNMC would pay the bill if that extension were to happen. That will allow UNMC leaders to evaluate if and how the route might cross onto or through the campus, potentially to the new Saddle Creek campus. It was during that design phase, they said, that a recommendation was made to end the streetcar’s western point at 39th and Farnam Streets, rather than 42nd and Farnam Streets. This one is shown at 34th and Farnam Streets. Three streetcar stations are to be built in the median of Farnam Street. Speakers noted that the 30% design phase of the streetcar was now complete, reviewed by the Omaha Planning Department and ready for presentation to the Urban Design Review Board. Noddle, also president of commercial development-focused Noddle Cos., spoke along with Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert, representatives of HDR engineering, city department heads and the president of the Greater Omaha Chamber. “This is really the community’s first opportunity to see images that are a product of a tremendous amount of work,” said Jay Noddle, chairman of the Omaha Streetcar Authority. They also shared new conceptual images of stations that will rise at 16 stops along the streetcar route, which is to run east on Harney Street and west on Farnam Street, connecting the Blackstone area to downtown. Streetcar supporters said they called the media event to provide updates on various project elements. Changes require approval by the Omaha Streetcar Authority. The recommended changes - part of an early design phase to be reviewed next week by the city’s Urban Design Review Board - were discussed Tuesday during a news conference. Omaha’s specific design, color and other details will depend on which bid is selected and revealed in February. An example of what a modern streetcar looks like. The development is a key step towards bringing the resources of the international research community to bear on the data the CHIME/FRB project is generating. Accelerating the pace of researchįree to use for anyone who has access to the internet, the new system fulfils the CHIME/FRB project team’s goal of making every FRB detected by CHIME available for other telescopes to target with as little delay as possible. ![]() “The enormous volume of data that CHIME/FRB generates and the large number of new FRBs that it detects each day is like a gold mine for a community that is eager to point every kind of telescope that exists at the next FRB,” says Andrew Zwaniga, lead developer of the CHIME/FRB VOEvent Service and a research assistant in the Department of Physics at McGill. With the new data sharing system, which uses Virtual Observatory Event (VOEvent), a standardized language for reporting astronomical events, key details about each FRB that CHIME detects can now be sent in real time to observatories all over the world, allowing them to train their instruments on the source and gather further clues towards unravelling the mystery of FRBs. It is not uncommon for the CHIME/FRB project to pinpoint several FRB events in a single day of operation as it sifts through nearly 1 million gigabytes of data gathered by the telescope. An antenna is such a conductor: it intercepts radio waves, which create a feeble current in it.McGill University scientists have developed a new system for sharing the enormous amount of data being generated by the CHIME radio telescope in its search for fast radio bursts (FRBs), the puzzling extragalactic phenomenon that is one of the hottest topics in modern-day astronomy. Radio waves can produce a current in conductors of electricity such as metals. Just as vibrating charged particles can produce electromagnetic waves (see the Radiation and Spectra chapter), electromagnetic waves can make charged particles move back and forth. Nevertheless, there is information in the radio waves we receive-information that can tell us about the chemistry and physical conditions of the sources of the waves. If cosmic radio signals were translated into sound, they would sound like the static you hear when scanning between stations. The radio waves we receive from space do not, of course, have music or other program information encoded in them. These must be decoded at the other end and then turned back into sound by speakers or headphones. In commercial radio broadcasting, we encode sound information (music or a newscaster’s voice) into radio waves. Like light, radio waves are a form of electromagnetic radiation, but unlike light, we cannot detect them with our senses-we must rely on electronic equipment to pick them up. It is important to understand that radio waves cannot be “heard”: they are not the sound waves you hear coming out of the radio receiver in your home or car. During the first decade, he worked practically alone because professional astronomers had not yet recognized the vast potential of radio astronomy. Over the years, Reber built several such antennas and used them to carry out pioneering surveys of the sky for celestial radio sources he remained active in radio astronomy for more than 30 years. In 1936, Grote Reber, who was an amateur astronomer interested in radio communications, used galvanized iron and wood to build the first antenna specifically designed to receive cosmic radio waves. This rotating radio antenna was used by Jansky in his serendipitous discovery of radio radiation from the Milky Way. ![]() 12/24/2023 0 Comments Activity monitor bird![]() ![]() “bird” is the backend process behind iCloud that activates when you start backing up files to iCloud Drive.
